Photographing the Willis family in Taylor/Snowflake, Arizona was unforgettable for one heartwarming reason. Sabrina had a special surprise planned for her husband, Nik, and she messaged me well in advance to see if we could pull it off at the end of their family session during their couple portraits.

Her plan? To ask Nik to the adult prom hosted by Snowflake High School—a fun event that raises funds for students. The execution was perfect! Nik stood facing away for one of the poses, and as planned, one of their kids handed Sabrina a sign that read:

“Will you go to PROM with me?”

The sign featured two checkboxes—“Yes” or “No”—a charming nod to George Strait’s classic country song “Check Yes or No.” Just like in the song, where a young girl passes a note to her crush asking if he loves her, Sabrina’s sweet gesture was a reminder of how love can stay playful and meaningful even after years of marriage.

The funniest part? When Nik turned around, he thought Sabrina was announcing she was pregnant! His face was a mixture of surprise and relief when he read the actual message.

The second-best part of this experience? They invited me to capture photos of them all dressed up before they headed to dinner and the prom! It was such a joy to see their excitement as they posed in their formal outfits, looking amazing and as giddy as a young couple heading to their high school prom.

Capturing their love and excitement was such an honor—it was proof that the spark of love can shine just as brightly no matter how much life you’ve built together. This session was truly unforgettable!
